Woodhull Raceway Kicks Of BRP CanAm Series Weekly Program
…Jason Knowles Looking To Repeat…
St Catharines, ON…The 2012 Bicknell Racing Products (BRP) CanAm Series weekly event program goes into fast forward on Saturday (April 14) at Woodhull Raceway. Jason Knowles, the opening night winner last year, plans to defend that honor and kick off his 2012 racing season with another win at the Steuben County race place.

Knowles, 30, has just taken delivery of his rebuilt CRS Camaro. The #4 Team will put in some long hours in the shop to get the car in final race trim. “We have some work to do, but the plan is to be there on Saturday night. Joel (Smith) and the guys at Close (Racing Supply) got a late start on my car so we missed the Woodhull practice sessions last weekend. I have lots of laps around those high banks so I’m not too concerned,” shared the second generation race car driver.

Jason won twice at Woodhull last year in BRP CanAm weekly events. “What I really want is to get me and the car dialed in so that I can win the opening BRP CanAm tour race at Woodhull on the 28th. I have won a few weekly BRP shows at Black Rock and Woodhull, but never made the top of the list for a tour event. That is a goal for 2012. Dad (Larry) has a bunch of tour wins and I want to get my name on that winners list.”

Another driver with much the same objective is Jason’s older brother, Brian. Brian’s ride for 2012 is the CRS Corvette that Steve Dixon won the Series championship with in 2009. Of course, that car has been totally freshened and now carries Doug Gross Construction logos and the number 7 on the sheet metal.

The Knowles boys will have plenty of fast company when Ted White opens the gates at 4:30 on Saturday afternoon. Heading that list is Glenn Whritenour the defending and many time Woodhull late model champion. Whritenour won the 2011 track title with four wins. Another major force to contend with will be Jeremy Wonderling. Wonderling, the 2011 BRP CanAm Series champion, won seven times at Woodhull last year. Included in that tally are all three Series tour events staged on the Woodhull Raceway high banks.

Other Woodhull 2011 winners that will be looking to lead the charge to Scott Colegrove’s flying double checkers to start the new year are Mick Seely, John Waters, Mike Wonderling, and Mikey Wonderling. Missing from that list is Greg Galligan. Galligan is taking the year off to spend more quality time with his family. He will be sorely missed on the BRP CanAm circuit. Taking up residence in the cockpit of the Charles McGregor cars that Galligan had campaigned will be Sean Lias. Lias, a former IMCA modified champion, will be a welcomed addition the BRP CanAm roster.

Others that practiced last weekend in preparation for the season opener included Clint Button, Dan Guild, Carl Hughes, Cecil LaBarron, Frank LeBarron, Steve LeBarron, Buck Payne, Bob Stilson, Wally Wade, Dusty Waters, Ron Wilkins, and Jerry Wilson.

All that enter will be looking to start 2012 with an A-Main win. Which one, we will all be there to see! Regardless of finishing position all will earn a payday and start accumulating points for both the track point championship and the all important home track bonus points towards the BRP CanAm Series championship. Home track bonus points can be earned at Black Rock Speedway, Little Valley Speedway, Raceway 5, and Woodhull Raceway.

Black Rock Speedway opens on Friday May 4, Little Valley on Sunday May 27, and Raceway 5 on May 12
