Jay Shaw Named BRP CanAm Series Technical Coordinator St. Catharines, ONT…Jay Shaw has accepted the position of Technical Coordinator for the BRP CanAm Series. Shaw, a long time auto racing enthusiast, resigned from his technical coordinator position with the Patriot Sprint Group last July due to personal reasons and is now ready “to get back into racing.” “I really like the BRP CanAm Late Model cars and the Series is the best thing that has ever happened for those race teams. I know most of the guys from the Series race teams and I have enjoyed working with Gary Montgomery in the past. I know that everyone wants a level playing field and to work within the defined technical specifications. I am delighted to help coordinate that effort. Bruce [Thompson] and Gary have demonstrated, again, that they have the race teams’ best interests at heart with the 2007 BRP CanAm Series Technical Specifications. They have changed nothing from the prior year. They only clarified a grey area on shocks. Change is the worst enemy of race teams. This is a great opportunity for me and the timing is perfect. I need to get back into racing and I have always been more of a stock car guy than a sprint car guy. I really like racing people and want to be involved,” says Shaw from his office at Jay’s Automotive in Portville, NY. Shaw will travel with the Series to all events starting in April 2007. However, he will begin meeting with chassis builders, engine builders, and race team members at the Parts Peddler Trade Show next week to stay current with the latest developments. “We are very happy to have Jay on board,” reports Series co-director Bruce Thompson. “This is something that our race teams have asked for. We have had great support from the track tech teams, but we needed the consistency of a person who could travel to all of our events. Jay brings an extensive racing background from racing go karts as a kid to his Patriot position. He builds engines and knows others in that business. Most important, Jay loves racing and racing people. He is a great addition to our program.” Jay Shaw can be reached at 716-933-7505 or jay_racing02@yahoo 2007 BRP CanAm Series Technical Specifications are now available at www.BRPCanAmSeries.com Watch that website for the 2007 BRP CanAm Series schedule which will be published within the next two weeks. |
