September Stretch for BRP CanAm Series St. Catharines, ONT… The 2006 BRP CanAm Series is down to the final four events in the September Stretch. Return trips to Black Rock Speedway, McKean County Raceway, and Ransomville Speedway plus the always popular annual visit to the high banks of Woodhull Raceway are on the September schedule. Black Rock Speedway [BRS] will host the touring late model series on Friday September 8th as part of the Annual Bully Hill Vineyards 360 Nationals Weekend. Prior Bully Hill events have been for winged 360 sprint cars only. This year Dean Hoag, BRS owner, has added the BRP CanAm 360 Late Models to make the weekend a true 360 Nationals affair. On April 15th Jeremy Wonderling kicked started his “best racing season ever” when he won the BRP CanAm Series opener at BRS. Last year the Series made two stops at BRS with Jeff Chesebro winning both events. Chesebro has not yet won a Series event in 2006. The Farmers Valley, PA driver hopes to change that on Friday September 8th. This BRS event takes on added importance given that it is now part of the $3000 LEAF Racewear Border Battle Bonus Program. Since the rained out Merrittville show could not be rescheduled the Battle continues at BRS. Randy Hall, the Series point leader, and Bruce Miller are tied atop the Border Battle Bonus chart. 31 drivers are currently eligible for the $3000 bonus program. F/A Products of Ontario, NY and Clevite Engine Parts of Ann Arbor, MI will co-host the 360 late model portion of 2006 Bully Hill Vineyards 360 Nationals. The double-header weekend on Friday September 15th at Ransomville Speedway and Saturday September 16th at Woodhull Raceway will test both man and machine. The Friday [Sep 15] return to Ransomville will kick off that track’s annual King of the Hill Weekend. In the June Ransomville event Jeremy Wonderling and Randy Hall staged a dog-fight that Tana Robinson, the track PR Director, believes to have been the best race ever at Ransomville. Wonderling won that event and hopes to repeat on the 15th. This will be the final event in the $3000 LEAF Racewear Border Battle. The host for the evening will be Bob Mullen’s Pro Speed and East Coast Speed.com. Saturday night [Sep 16] will be the much anticipated annual visit to Woodhull Raceway will take place. This high banked ¼ mile typically produces great shows. Although the Series has raced at Woodhull only twice many Series drivers have logged many laps at the Steuben County track. Ed Carley [2004] and Jeff Chesebro [2005] are Series event winners on the high banks, but Larry Knowles, Rich Michael, Randy Hall, Jessica Pierce, and Junior Green have all visited Woodhull’s Victory Lane in non-Series events. Maynard Electric of Hornell and Cutler-Hammer are title sponsors for this event. The 2006 BRP CanAm Series will conclude at McKean County Raceway [MCR] on Saturday September 30 with the $1422 to win Brock Young Memorial. It wasn’t planned this way but Mother Nature forced a schedule change and MCR management jumped on the situation to make September 30 the biggest night in the history of that track with a block-buster program. MCR has been the site six prior BRP CanAm events. Todd Rice won the inaugural Brock Young Memorial in 2003. Jeremy Wonderling and Bob Dixon were Series winners at MCR in 2004. Wonderling was the 2004 One For Brock Young winner and Dixon won the County Fair race. Darren Kish and AJ Young won Series events in 2005. Kish won the Brock Young Memorial and AJ won the Fair event. [AJ Young is the brother of Brock]. Last month Todd Hanson won the MCR Fair race to become the 19th different winner in 38 BRP CanAm A-Mains. The One For Twenty Two event is hosted by the Young Family of Scio, NY to honor the life of Brock Young.
