BRP CanAm Series Returns To Genesee Speedway Saturday

Batavia, NY…Saturday August 12 the BRP CanAm Series will travel to the Genesee Speedway in Batavia, NY for event #6 of the 12 event 2006 Series. Gates open at 5:00 with race action at 7:00. Genesee Speedway is located on the Genesee County Fairgrounds on NYS Route 5 just two miles east of the City of Batavia. Speedway information available at 585-345-0909 or www.GeneseeSpeedway.com.

Genesee Speedway has hosted five prior BRP CanAm Series events. Doug Ricotta topped a 50 car field in the inaugural event in 2003. Genesee held two Series events in 2004 with Dustin Croft and Ed Carley recording victories. 2005 Genesee winners were Jon Rivers and Tim Schram.

The Series point battle is very intense behind point leader Randy Hall; however, Hall currently enjoys a 55 point advantage over Jon Rivers.

Rivers, the defending Genesee Speedway track champion, stands second and hopes to parlay his home track advantage to gain ground on Hall. Rivers best keep looking ahead because his “best friends” are closing in.

Paul Grigsby moved to third in the point race with his outstanding fourth place finish at Canandaigua last night. Grigsby is just five points behind Rivers.

Jeremy Wonderling is fourth in the $20,000+ points contest despite wins at Black Rock and Ransomville.

Tim Schram hopes to score a repeat Genesee win and advance up the point ladder from his current fifth place position.

BRP CanAm Series winners to date in 2006 are Jeremy Wonderling, Jon Rivers, Dave Miller, and Jason DuPont. Wonderling won at both Black Rock Speedway and Ransomville Speedway. Rivers’ win came at Merrittville Speedway. Miller won at Cayuga County Fair Speedway, and DuPont won his first ever at Canandaigua last night.
