Canandaigua Speedway Next for BRP CanAm

Canandaigua NY…Thursday August 10th, Canandaigua Speedway will host event the fifth event of the twelve event 2006 BRP CanAm Late Model Series. Gates will open at 4:00 for a fan / race team Meet & Greet BBQ. Race time is set for 7:00 for the double-header which will also include an Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series event for the big block Modifieds.

Canandaigua Speedway is another new venue for the BRP CanAm Series. Last month 43 of the touring late model series teams towed to Cayuga County Fair Speedway [CCFS] for a new venue show. The CCFS show received rave reviews. DIRT MotorSports and Series officials expect a similar show at the "Land of Legends" – Canandaigua Speedway.

BRP CanAm Series winners to date in 2006 are Jeremy Wonderling, Jon Rivers, and Dave Miller. Wonderling won at both Black Rock Speedway and Ransomville Speedway. Rivers’ win came at Merrittville Speedway. Miller won at CCFS.

Despite Wonderling’s two wins he does not lead the $20,000+ Series point championship standings. That honor belongs to Randy Hall. Hall, a Series rookie, has been very consistent with four top ten finishes. Hall has earned 435 points. Rivers stands second just 14 points behind. Wonderling is third with 383 points. Paul Grigsby with 380 points and Tim Schram with 356 points round out the top five in the point standings which include 57 drivers.
