Rookie Randy Hall On Top Of BRP CanAm Series Point Standings

Weedsport, NY - June 28, 2006 - By Gary Montgomery, CanAm Series PR

The BRP CanAm Series Late Models make their debut at Cayuga County Fair Speedway on July 2. The lack of track time for the veteran tour regulars may play into the favor of current BRP CanAm Series points leader Randy Hall, recognized as a rookie on the BRP LM tour although experienced in both open-wheel and full-fender forms of racing for the past decade.

"I won a race a couple years back at Weedsport so I remember a little bit about the place, being a short track it really fits my driving style," said Hall, 35, a resident of Olean, N.Y., who has over 100 feature wins to his credit since 1996.

Since not previously racing in the BRP CanAm Series, he is eligible to be 2006 Rookie of the Year. But Hall isn't all that interested in Rookie honors, he would rather be considered a contender for winning races and the Series Championship. And given Hall's racing record and his new CRS Monte Carlo, he could accomplish all three in 2006.

The BRP CanAm Series joins the World of Outlaws Late Model Series in kicking off July with a big Independence Day Weekend doubleheader. BRP tour regulars will be chasing a $1,000 winner's share in their 30-lap main event while the stars and cars of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series also make their inaugural appearance Sunday at Cayuga County Fair Speedway with the 'Star Spangled 50' winner pocketing $10,000.

While leading the '06 BRP CanAm Series point standings, Hall's impressive racing record is centered on IMCA Modified and E-Mod racing, and also includes ATV and Street Stock racing. "I started racing 3-Wheelers in 1983 and quickly moved to 4-Wheelers. That's where we learned to love traveling to different race tracks, it was a great family experience. So that got me hooked on competition, speed, and travel. In 1997, I started racing the IMCA Modifieds and we have traveled all over with that program. The BRP CanAm Series offers the competition, speed, and travel that we like and the $20,000 point fund makes it all worthwhile," Hall added.

Hall's IMCA/E-Mod record includes 124 A-Main wins from the first year in 1997 through a 2006 win at Southern Raceway in Okeechobee, Florida in February. Winning, combined with consistent up-front finishes, has earned Hall eight track championships (3 at McKean County Raceway, 2 at Freedom Raceway, 1 each at Bradford Speedway, Raceway 7, and Woodhull Raceway).

Perhaps the biggest accomplishment in Hall's IMCA racing record is that he has qualified twice (1999 & 2001) for the IMCA Super Nationals in Boone, Iowa --- a spectacular affair that attracts over 400 competitors annually. His 1999 run at Boone was the first ever for any New York State racer.

Prior to embarking this season on an all-out assault towards the BRP CanAm Series Championship, Hall hadn't raced a car with fenders since 1996, his first year in stock car racing. But aboard his blue and black no. 10 Duggan and Duggan General Contractors, Follman Rental Properties-sponsored machine sporting big dirt late model fiberglass down force fenders, he quickly found a comfort zone.

But Hall won't rest on past laurels as he still has 10 BRP Series races to go. Shadowing him at the top of the points chart are early tour winners Jon Rivers (1), the 2005 Genesee Speedway champion, and Jeremy Wonderling (2), the dominant driver at Black Rock Speedway this season with a handful of wins. Other leading contenders include fourth-place BRP LM points-getter Paul Grigsby, '05 CanAm Series champ Darren Kish, Freedom Raceway 2005 titlist Tim Schram and southern tier veteran Larry Knowles, a past champion at both Black Rock and Woodhull Raceway.
