Millers Plan BRP CanAm March to Merrittville

St. Catharines, ONT….Three BRP CanAm Series events have been run at Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario, just outside of St. Catharines. All three have been won by a member of the racing Miller family of Wellsville, NY. On Monday May 22, the father son duo of Dave Miller and Bruce Miller will march to Merrittville Speedway with the objective of keeping the family’s win streak alive.

Andy Miller [another son] won the BRP CanAm Series event at Merrittville in 2004. In 2005, Merrittville Speedway hosted two Series events during which Dave and Bruce each added their names to the winners’ list of the famed 55 year old Speedway. The Miller family Merrittville record for six starts is three wins, two seconds and a tenth.

The Millers are busy rebuilding their much modified GRT Monte Carlos for 2006 Series action. They do everything including parts fabrication, engine assembly, and sheet metal / fiberglass body work in the family garage next to their home just south of Wellsville, NY after their day jobs at Dresser – Rand.

The Millers can expect plenty of others with their eyes on a Merrittville Speedway victory. Heading that list is Darren Kish, the 2005 BRP CanAm Series champion. Kish, from nearby Pt. Colborne, Ontario, is a many time winner in street stock and DIRT Pro Stock competition at Merrittville. Rick Baker of Fort Erie, Ontario plans to unveil his new hot rod, a 2005 Shaw Monte Carlo at the Merrittville event. This very talented and personable driver has lots of laps and wins at Merrittville. He would like nothing better than to win his first Series event on the national holiday that honors Queen Victoria. Rumor has it that BRP CanAm Late Model car owner Stan Miskin of Crystal Beach, Ontario is in negotiations with a fellow countryman to buckle-up in his potent GRT Monte Carlo for the Monday night holiday event.

Heading the list of USA drivers who hope to break the Miller Merrittville Sweep is Jeremy Wonderling of Scio, NY. Wonderling won the 2006 Series opener at Black Rock last month and has since then won all of the non- Series late model events at Black Rock.

Wonderling will head north, leading a convoy of Scio Speed Society members all with race cars in tow. Tim Dunham, Junior Green, Tim Schram, Mikey Wonderling, and Brady Wonderling are all card carrying members of the Society planning an upset of their neighbors, the Millers. Wellsville and Scio are neighboring villages in Allegany County on the southern tier of New York State.

There are new race car drivers, new race teams, and new race cars aplenty for the 2006 BRP CanAm Late Model Series. Join us at Merrittville Speedway and celebrate the Victoria Day Holiday on Monday May 22. The gates will open at 5PM; racing starts at 7PM.

The 2006 BRP CanAm Series will visit Black Rock Speedway [twice], Canandaigua Speedway, Cayuga County Fair Speedway, Genesee Speedway, McKean County Raceway [twice], Merrittville Speedway [twice], Ransomville Speedway [twice], and Woodhull Raceway for 12 point events in 2006. The 2006 Series will conclude at Black Rock on Saturday October 7 with a $10,000 non-point affair.
