2006 BRP CanAm Series Opens at Black Rock Speedway St. Catharines, ONT…The 2006 BRP CanAm Series opens on Saturday April 15 at Black Rock Speedway. Gates at Dean Hoag’s Dundee, NY race place open at noon with a 3PM start time for the double header which will include the T3 All Star 358 Modifieds. The 2005 Series opener was won by Darren Kish who went on a tear recording victories in the first three events on his way to the championship. Kish hopes to duplicate his Series successes of 2005 when the touring BRP Late Models invade Black Rock Speedway. Standing in Kish’s way will be a long list of his "best friends" many with brand new hardware for the 2006 Series. All with the competitive drive that makes this Series a favorite of race fans wherever they race. The race car shops of Ed Carley [Ed Carley Motorsports], Bob Close and Joel Smith [Close Racing Supply], and Bob Mullin [Pro Speed] have been turning out new race cars at a record rate during the off-season. Not every race team has a new car, but all have spent many hours in their shops during the off-season making improvements in an effort to find a little more speed and improved reliability to better their chances of victory on this very tough tour. There is no clear cut favorite for the Black Rock Speedway event, but clearly Jeff Chesebro’s name in on everyone’s list of good bets to win. Chesebro won both Series events at Black Rock Speedway in 2005. In fact, Chesebro won three of the last four Series events in 2005. Accordingly, the Smethport, PA speedster enters the 2006 campaign with a lot of momentum. Chesebro has not only reworked his 2005 GRT Monte Carlo for the new season, but has built a new enclosed hauler to ferry his black beauty to the tracks. The 2006 BRP CanAm Series will visit Black Rock Speedway [twice], Canandaigua Speedway, Cayuga County Fair Speedway, Genesee Speedway, McKean County Raceway [twice], Merrittville Speedway [twice], Ransomville Speedway [twice], and Woodhull Raceway for 12 point events in 2006. The 2006 Series will conclude at Black Rock on Saturday October 7 with a $10,000 non-point affair.
