2006 BRP CanAm Series Plans In Progress

St. Catharines, ONT…After concluding the third and most successful year for the BRP CanAm Series there is no down time as Series organizers Gary Montgomery and Bruce Thompson have shifted gears and are now focused on making the 2006 Series another record breaker.

Thompson reports, “A goal of the Series is to introduce the popular super stock late model race teams that race weekly at Genesee Speedway and McKean County Raceway to race fans at other tracks.  Much progress has been made towards that goal, but there is still opportunity.  We have taken the super stock late models to Black Rock Speedway, Humberstone Speedway, Merrittville Speedway, Ransomville Speedway, and Woodhull Raceway for BRP CanAm Series events.  We would like to add to that list.  The BRP CanAm race teams have put on great shows everywhere we’ve taken them.  We want to continue to showcase this product to the race fans at new tracks in order to help the weekly tracks develop their programs.  The Series helps build stronger programs at Genesee, Little Valley, and McKean and provides a bonus program for the fans of Series hosting tracks.  In addition, our race teams like the challenge offered by racing at these new venues.  These teams race weekly at either Genesee or McKean on Saturday nights and they are always on the agenda at Little Valley Speedway for their six shows per year, but they seldom raced anyplace else until the Series was formed in 2003.  We have proposals out to three new tracks for 2006.”

Montgomery adds, “A stumbling block for growing the Series to new venues has been the super stock designation that has evolved over several years with this type of race car at Genesee and McKean.  It is time to provide a more accurate descriptor.  We are changing the name to BRP CanAm 360 Late Models.  It is a name change only.  Our technical specifications will remain essentially unchanged for 2006.  “Super stock” means different things to different race fans and different track promoters.  Outside of Genesee, Little Valley, and McKean, the term is generally used to define street stocks with wide tires.  Our cars are far than that.  From the grandstand, our cars look just like the super late models that race the World of Outlaws Late Model tour and other super late model programs.  However, beneath the skin, our cars are very different.  A good analogy is 410 Sprint Cars and 360 Sprint Cars.  We believe the new name, BRP CanAm 360 Late Models, will help us and track promoters better sell the program.”

The 2006 BRP CanAm Series schedule is under construction [12 dates are booked], updated technical specifications have been provided to the competitors, minor tweaks to the race procedures are being made, Marketing Partners are in-place [with room for more], race car shops are busy building new and freshening used race cars, and in only a little more than four months the 2006 BRP CanAm Series will be underway!
