Chesebro Repeats as BRP CanAm Winner

Dundee, NY…Jeff Chesebro liked winning so much that he did it again.  Chesebro won his second BRP CanAm Series A-Main on Friday night [Sep 23] at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, NY.  Chesebro’s first Series win came just last week at Woodhull Raceway.

Chesebro like most of the BRP CanAm touring racers had never seen Black Rock Speedway until he arrived at Dean Hoag’s outstanding facility on Friday afternoon.  “I did not even know where Dundee was.  I followed Ricey [Todd Rice] to the track and he followed me to the checkered flag, “shared the Smethport, PA racer as he waited for the post-race tech on his Chese’s Performance Exhaust – Fitzsimmon’s Contracting GRT Monte Carlo. Chesebro started on the Brad Penn Racing Oil pole and lead all 30 laps of the contest

Todd Rice brought his Bauchard Dodge – Tioga Energy GRT Taurus home second for his best BRP CanAm finish of 2005.  Rice came from seventh and appeared to have the fastest car, but ran out of laps to overtake his McKean County neighbor.

Steve Dixon, a rookie on the BRP CanAm 360 late model tour, recorded his best finish with the show spot in his Duffy’s Inc – Fox’s Pizza Bullit Monte Carlo.

Larry Knowles, another BRP CanAm rookie, used his many laps of experience at Black Rock and a very stout Ron’s Engine Science Chevy in his Dewert Monte Carlo to earn fourth place at Greg Hixson’s checkered flag.  Knowles was coming off a heart breaking DNF at Woodhull last week. A heart breaking and expensive Woodhull DNF where he broke almost every component in the drive line of his Harding Harley Davidson sponsored hot rod.

Fifth at the finish was Salamanca, NY’s Jon Lichy.  Lichy has had an up and down ride on the Series this year.  This was Lichy’s second top five run of the season.  He is hoping to win at his home track, Little Valley Speedway, tomorrow [Saturday] night.

AJ Young, Bruce Miller, Chief Neil Patterson, Bob Dixon, and Jeremy Wonderling completed the top ten.

Series point leader, Darren Kish, had an uncharacteristic night with a crash in his heat and an unspirited run in the B-Main.  He had to use a provisional starting position to make the A.  He drove a conservative race to finish 11th and help ensure his position on top the point standings.  Kish has lead the point battle all season long after winning three of the first three 2005 Series events.  Kish lost 16 points to his nearest competitor, AJ Young, but left Black Rock with a 100 point cushion with two races remaining in the 2005 Series.

Bob Dixon’s ninth place finish came after starting 25th, from the B-Main, and earned him the Close Racing Supply Hard Charger Award.

F/A Product – Clevite Engine Builder Award winners were Jeff Chesebro / Bob Repine, Todd Rice / Marshall Shunk, and Steve Dixon / Bob Repine.

The 35 car field was reduced to 26 A-Main starters via four heats which were won by Shuan Freeland, Bruce Miller, Tim Schram, and Larry Knowles.  Ed Carley Motorsports $100 B-Main winners were Dave Miller and Paul Grigsby.  Darren Kish and Jeremy Wonderling used provisional to make the A-Main.
