$21,422 Point Fund set for BRP CanAm Series Racers St. Catharines, ONT…BRP CanAm Series organizers, Gary Montgomery and Bruce Thompson, are delighted to announce that the Series will pay its top point earners $21,422 on championship night at Black Rock Speedway on October 15. “In 2003, the first year for the Series, we were broke new ground for super stock racers by establishing a point fund of nearly $10,000 for the eight event Series. Last year we increased the number of events to 11 and increased the point fund to $17,580. For 2005 we plan 13 events and if all are run we will pay at least $21, 422,” reports Bruce Thompson from his St. Catharines, Ontario office. The $21,422 point fund is in addition to the season long bonus programs which will pay the Series racers approximately $15,000 and the event purses totaling approximately $56,000. The 2005 Series has completed five of the scheduled 13 events. Now the Series shifts into high gear with three events scheduled for this weekend and four more during the nest two weeks. This weekend the Series returns to Merrittville Speedway in Thorold, Ontario on Friday September 9 to complete a rained out event and then another full show. The following night the Series travels to Genesee Speedway in Batavia, New York. Three events in two days worth about $23,000 to the BRP CanAm super stock race teams. Point bonus at Genesee Speedway The Saturday September 10 Genesee Speedway will be sponsored by F/A Products of Rochester, NY and Clevite Engine Parts of Ann Arbor, MI. The F/A Products – Clevite Engine Parts Engine Builders Award bonus program has been in place on season now these two firms are expanding their involvement with the BRP CanAm Series to include a major contribution to the point fund. In recognition of this expanded support the point allocation for all who enter the Genesee event is increased by 100 points per position. For example, the race winner will earn 200 points, the runner-up will earn 195 points, the last place finisher will earn 140 points, and non-qualifiers will earn 135 points. The BRP CanAm Series is designed to promote the great super stock race teams and their weekly programs at Genesee Speedway and McKean County Raceway. The Series has taken super stock teams on the road to new tracks with new audiences. Series events have been well received everywhere.
