One For Twenty Two or 1422

E. Smethport, PA…The winner of Saturday’s Brock Young Memorial BRP CanAm Super Stock Series event at McKean County Raceway [MCR] will earn $1422.

$1422 is a nice large payout for the BRP CanAm Super Stocks, but a rather unusual amount. Why $1422? The Young family, in concert with the management at MCR, has posted this amount to honor Brock Young who raced Super Stock #22. This race is One For Twenty Two.

“Brock lived to race. Driving a stock car was what he always wanted to do while growing up. Our dad raced and it was in Brock’s blood. It was his passion and he was very good at it. It’s too bad that he did not live longer, because he would have been a great racer,” said Brock’s brother A.J. who carries on the Young family racing tradition. A.J. will be one of the 40 some drivers who will be vying for a starting position in Saturday night’s 2nd Annual Brock Young Memorial.

Brock Young was a very popular Scio, NY Super Stock competitor prior to his death in a highway accident in 2002.

Todd Rice of Eldred, PA is the defending champion of the Brock Young Memorial and will be out to duplicate his 2003 victory. Rice says, “The biggest win of my career was Brock’s race last year. I will never forget that race nor will I forget the generosity of the Young family. They are just great people and it is a great gift on their part to honor Brock in this manner.”

Rice is the current MCR Super Stock point leader and second in BRP CanAm Series points. A win on Saturday would help both his point standing status and his racing budget.

Genesee Speedway in Batavia is not racing on Saturday as the racers move out for the annual Genesee County Fair. No Saturday night conflict, a BRP CanAm Super Stock Series event, and $1422 to win should entice many of the Genesee Super Stockers to travel south to the McKean County Raceway for a great night of Super Stock racing.

MCR is located at the intersection of Routes 6 and 46 in East Smethport, PA. For track information, call 814-887-2600 or on the web at www.mckeancountyraceway.com
