Bruce Miller Wins BRP CanAm Super Stock Series Event at Freedom Raceway Delevan, NY-Bruce Miller drove his Strate Welding Supply GRT Intrepid to victory in the first ever BRP CanAm Super Stock Series event at Dan Hoffman-s Freedom Raceway on Friday night. The second generation pilot from Wellsville started on the pole by luck of the draw after winning his heat race and proceeded to out duel all challengers for his first of the year and second career BRP CanAm Super Stock Series A-Main victory. Miller and Tim Dunham paced the 26 car field to the green for what turned out to be the fastest 22 laps of racing action ever at Freedom Raceway. Dunham lost second to defending Series champion Bob Dixon who in turn lost the runner-up spot to Bill Holmes on lap 9. Laps 10 thru 22 were outstanding with Miller and Holmes staging a dog fight for the top spot while the balance of the field shuffled positions with near clockwork precision. As the leaders worked turns three and four of lap 23 a horrific six car crash on the back straight brought out the red flag to stop the event. -It was just a matter of too many cars going for the same spot and a chain reaction deal,- according to Jeremy Wonderling after he crawled from his battered Shaw Grand Prix. The combined impact of Wonderling-s car making contact with Bob Dixon-s car and nearly simultaneous contact to the rear of Wonderling-s Baldwin Forest Products entry by TJ Shaw resulted in Wonderling car going airborne and crashing to the ground on its roof. With the track blocked at the fastest point on the track Jay Deming, Paul Grigsby, and Dustin Croft all piled in. Wonderling-s car looked the worst of the bunch with much of the sheet metal and fiberglass torn from the car of the body panels that remained there was not one piece that was not destroyed. However, TJ Shaw-s car was actually hurt more with major frame and suspension damage Dixon and Dustin Croft were able to drive from the scene; in fact Croft restarted the event. The Jay Deming and Paul Grigsby cars were towed to the pits. There were no driver injuries, but thousands of dollars in damage was inflicted. When the race resumed Holmes immediately went back at Miller for three laps and then right front suspension damage slowed Holmes- GRT Monte Carlo. Holmes then went on the defense and tried to maintain second, but it was too big a handicap and first Andy Miller was able to slip under the ailing Holmes car and on the final lap Todd Rice was also able to gain a spot. Jim Mazur closed on Holmes, but fell short to bring his Genesee Aluminum Loline Monte Carlo home fifth for his best ever BRP CanAm finish. Darren Kish-s immaculate at the start Atkinson Deliver Shaw Taurus was battle scarred as he raced across the line to claim sixth. Jim Johnson earned the Hard Charger Award with a great run from 21st at the green to seventh at the checkers. Tim Rockwell had another strong run that was actually better than his eight place finish indicates. Scio Speed Society drivers Tim Schram and Tim Dunham rounded out the top ten. Four heats and two B-Mains trimmed the 39 car field to 26 for the A-Main. Ron Baker and Jr. Peters were the provisional starters. The next event for the BRP CanAm Super Stock Series is Thursday July 1 at Merrittville Speedway.
