Dixon Inaugural BRP CanAm Super Stock Series Champion

Bob Dixon of Smethport, Pennsylvania topped 79 other competitors across the eight event 2003 BRP CanAm Super Stock Series schedule to earn the championship title in the Series’ highly successful inaugural year. Dixon’s share of the $10,000 point fund was $4110, which included $1000 from Maple Valley Hardwoods and a new Larry Shaw late model chassis modified to Super Stock specifications by Ed Carley Motorsports.

Dixon parlayed top ten finishes in all eight Series events highlighted by two wins to earn the title. Appropriately, Dixon’s wins came on both sides of the border, Gasport International Speedway in Canada and Little Valley Speedway in America, making him a true CanAm champion.

Doug Ricotta of Warsaw, New York finished second in the 2003 Series points battle. Ricotta was also a two time Series winner, but a devastating crash at Gasport produced the majority of the 41-point deficit that separated the top two point earners. Ricotta’s wins came at Genesee Speedway and Ransomville Speedway.

Todd Rice of Eldred, Pennsylvania drove his Ford powered GRT Taurus to third place in the final points tally. The highlight of Rice’s Series run was his victory over 47 other competitors at McKean County Raceway in the Brock Young Memorial where he earned $1422 for the biggest win of his career.

Bruce Miller of Wellsville, New York used his win at Little Valley in the Series opener to launch what became fourth place in the Series long point battle. The Series opener produced what may be a record in all of motorsports history. In that event Bruce led his brother, Andy, and his father, Dave, across the finish line to produce an all Miller family top three podium.

Darren Kish of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada represented his side of the border well as he rounded out the top five Series point standings. Kish drove his DSE GM powered Shaw Grand Prix to victory at Bradford [PA] Speedway to become one of six winners in the 2003 campaign.

Rounding out the top ten Series point earners were Wayne Adamczak, A.J. Young, Jason Dupont, Chad Arnold, and Jack Harrington.

2003 BRP CanAm Super Stock Series A-Main winners were Bruce Miller event #1 at Little Valley; Todd Rice event #2 at McKean; Bob Dixon event #3 at Gasport; Dave Miller event #4 at Gasport, Doug Ricotta event #5 at Genesee, Darren Kish event #6 at Bradford, Ricotta event #7 at Ransomville, and Dixon event # 8 at Little Valley.

Sponsors who contributed to the $10,000 Series point fund included Bicknell Racing Products, Ed Carley Motorsports, Close Racing Supply, Cousins Graphics, Crabb Oil, Dick Fite Racing Engines, Layfield Racing Connection, Lias Tire, Maple Valley Hardwoods, Mohawk Speed Shop, and Larry Shaw Race Cars,

The 2004 BRP CanAm Super Stock Series schedule has been expanded to 12 full points programs plus a Victoria Day [Monday May 24] Dash for Cash at Merrittville Speedway. New venues for 2004 are Freedom Raceway, Merrittville Speedway [twice], and Woodhull Raceway.
